Gale cancels YPF and QaF Con
Unfortunately, for Gale fans, he had to cancel his appearance at the Young Playwrights Festival and at the Rise ‘n’ Shine Convention in Germany due to a new work commitment.
So fortunately for him, he has a new project coming up and we’ll keep you posted about it, as we learn to know more.
GALE HAROLD´S STATEMENT:
The first thing I’d like to say is that I truly regret not being a part of Rise’n Shine 2012. I am very proud of the American adaptation of Queer as Folk that I had the good grace to be a part of. I have to thank Dan Lipman and Ron Cowen for giving me that chance.
I’d love to be there to celebrate with you. Obviously QAF changed all of our lives. And that fact is more than just the echo of a well-worn phrase. In the years since the series completed, one thing has become very clear to me; there were many lifelong transformations that I, and I think my cast-mates went through while living through our characters.
I had been greatly looking forward to attending the convention, reuniting with all my old cast-mates and meeting all of you. A wonderful work opportunity has only recently come my way and unfortunately the scheduling of that project does not allow me the time to come to Cologne and join you. This disappoints me just as much as I fear it will disappoint many of you. I hope you will all understand and forgive my absence.
Whatever I gave to others through QAF, I received vastly more in return. I can remember when we started to hear the stories from those first watching the show. I will never forget being told by some of my brothers and sisters in the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community that they were hearing their own voices and seeing themselves, some for the first time, on screen. Not everyone in the community saw, or even liked the work we did. But there were many who found hope and solidarity in the stories we tried to tell. I’ve heard that directly from many of those who did. That is undoubtedly what I treasure most. The best we can do as story tellers is tell the truth and find someone to listen to us and respond; however it affects them and however we get there. We told the truth.
I had looked forward to being in Cologne with all of you and hearing some new stories.
I will deeply miss hearing them.
It would have been great after the years that have passed to be with the boys and girls from Pittsburgh together in a new city far,far away…Sincerely,
Gale Harold

‘Secret Circle’ canceled just as Charles was about to go ‘dark, cool, dangerous as hell’
The Secret Circle EP Andrew Miller didn’t know his show was being canceled this morning when he phoned EW to talk about last night’s season finale and tease where a second season would take the witches of Chance Harbor if they were granted one. [...] In the finale, Charles redeemed himself by magically luring the six demons inside Eben into his body so that Dawn could save Faye, Melissa, and Jake from burning at the stake (okay, a pole on the old ship). “So now he’s in this comatose state with six demons inside him that can’t get out, in the hopes that soon — let’s say next season — there’s a way to extract those demons,” Miller said. “Who Charles is when that happens remains to be seen. That’s what we wanted to set up for next season: Can the people who love him help him in a way that brings him back to who he was, or is he gonna be someone completely different? He’s come a long way this year, starting off as a completely evil son of a bitch [when he killed Cassie's mother] and ending up making a self-sacrifice that was pretty stunning. If there is a next season, I suspect that idea of self-sacrifice won’t be uppermost on his mind anymore. He might revert back a little.”
That was what I’d been waiting for — Gale Harold unleashed. “You and me. We were so desperate to show consequences and responsibility, and for him to be an out-and-out bad guy, and a dad, and a guy who brought Cassie, which was so hard to do thematically. It may have taken a long time, but it feels like we can reset his character a little bit more,” Miller said. “He’s so good at being bad, we just needed to give him enough reason to go that way, and I feel like having six demons inside of him and doing what he did to save everyone is enough of a reason to go back. I’m hopeful for a very dark, cool, dangerous as hell Charles next season.” And maybe he could possibly have some sex, I said. “Yes,” Miller said, laughing. “If you’re gonna be dark and dangerous, why not have sex? What’s the fun otherwise?”
The Secret Circle has been cancelled
After a little bit of misinformation and initial happiness, reporters quickly back-paddled.
The Secret Circle has unfortunately been cancelled by the CW.
We’ve seen Charles display varying degrees of weakness and strength this year, and now, as tensions in town reach a climactic finish, he’ll have to examine his choices and, perhaps, atone for them.
Tonight’s Season 1 finale, titled “Family,” will force Charles into a potentially deadly decision. The most important relationship in his life, with his daughter Diana (Shelley Hennig), is crumbling. He’s learned that she may not be his biological daughter, and she’s discovered the truth about Charles’ potential for darkness.
[...]
We’re thrilled to see Harold show off those acting chops that have been subdued all season, and we’re also excited to see how everything that goes down in the finale impacts Diana. Miller explains that she and her newfound sister go through a bit of a role-reversal as the season comes to its dramatic close.
